Zetech University has partnered with Mount Kenya University (MKU) and eight other leading universities to implement the ACCESS Program, a transformative initiative aimed at enhancing entrepreneurship and innovation in higher education. Funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service), and EXCEED, the program is designed to promote a collaborative approach to entrepreneurship education in Kenya.
As the lead local institution, MKU will coordinate activities involving Zetech University, Karatina University, Kabarak University, Kenyatta University, Riara University, Daystar University, Technical University of Kenya, KCA University, Machakos University, and Gretsa University.
A core element of the ACCESS Program is the development of a joint entrepreneurship curriculum featuring capstone projects, self-paced learning, and an AI-powered monitoring tool integrated into each institution’s Virtual Learning Management System (VLMS). The initiative will also introduce joint service-learning modules for MBA students, covering research methodology and unit specialization.
Additionally, the program will establish Student ACCESS Business Ideas Clubs in each university. Every year, the top two student entrepreneurs from each institution will attend an intensive five-day bootcamp, accompanied by faculty mentors, to further refine their business ideas and strategies.
This partnership represents a major step forward in strengthening entrepreneurship education and fostering innovation, equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in Kenya’s dynamic business environment.
