PROF. SUSAN ALFANO NKINYANGI
Prof. Nkinyangi is an international expert in education and public policy. She has served for over 30 years in different regions of the world as a senior adviser and technical expert in international, regional, and national initiatives on education and development. She has extensively worked with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) based in Paris, France; Pretoria, South Africa; Dakar, Senegal; and Nairobi, Kenya.
Her roles at UNESCO included: Senior Education Adviser, at UNESCO Nairobi, where she was responsible for education projects covering Eritrea, Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda, and Senior Education Adviser, in Dakar. She also served as Senior Education Adviser in SA and Senior Program Specialist in Paris, responsible for UNESCO's global work in basic education, health, and nutrition. Prof. Nkinyangi holds a Ph.D. from Monash University Medical School (Australia) and a Master of Science in Biology from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, MA, USA).
She has published extensively on policy development, research, and studies; resource mobilization and technical cooperation; and advocacy, networking, and linkages. Other notable publications include the Second Fact Book on Education, "UNESCO, Challenges of implementing free primary education in Kenya: Experiences from the Districts".
