In a significant step towards digital transformation, Zetech University recently hosted a high- profile delegation from ISSTECH, a renowned Chinese technology company specializing in urban digital solutions and smart campus innovations. Held on March 25th and 26th, 2025, this milestone visit marked a crucial phase in an ongoing collaboration that began with an initial engagement between ISSTECH’s Jianguo Shen and Zetech University representatives. This relationship further deepened following Samwel Kinuthia’s visit to ISSTECH headquarters in Shenzhen, China, in May 2024.

During the visit, Zetech University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Njuguna, expressed profound appreciation for ISSTECH’s commitment to advancing technology-driven education. He reiterated the university’s dedication to global partnerships that foster academic excellence and innovation.

The delegation included Mr. Xuqing Yang (Allen), CTO and President of the International Business Department; Miss Chunyu Xu (Tiffany), Vice President of the International Business Department; and Mr. Yu Xiong (Chris), Kenya Desk Manager of the International Business Department. Their visit symbolized a shared vision for progress, as ISSTECH aims to introduce its cutting-edge digital solutions to Kenya. This engagement underscores their commitment to pioneering transformative projects within the region.

Throughout their stay, both teams engaged in insightful discussions that identified four primary areas for collaboration. The development of a model smart campus featuring advanced laboratories, digital systems, enhanced security, and energy management solutions aims to create an interactive and efficient academic environment. Plans to design urban simulation tools integrating IoT-driven smart governance models seek to enhance strategic planning and real-time operational analysis. Establishing a dynamic student exchange program will allow Zetech students to visit Chinese innovation centers and hi-tech firms to gain global exposure and hands-on experience. Implementing sophisticated IoT-based traffic control solutions will optimize mobility and ensure a seamless campus experience.

A highlight of the visit was an exclusive tour of Zetech University’s cutting-edge facilities, showcasing its readiness for digital transformation. The engagement culminated in a workshop titled “AI, Smart Cities & Governance” at the Mangu Technology Park Campus, where students explored real-world applications of artificial intelligence in campus and urban management.

This strategic collaboration offers ISSTECH a gateway into Kenya’s growing tech ecosystem while equipping Zetech University with world-class digital innovations and research capabilities. As both institutions work towards implementing smart campus solutions and urban digital transformation, this partnership sets a benchmark for technological advancement in academia and beyond. From the first discussions with Jianguo Shen to the high-level engagements and facility tours, the ISSTECH-Zetech partnership stands as a testament to the power of international collaboration in shaping the future of education and smart urban living.
