ZU and KU collaborationIn a remarkable demonstration of the power of partnerships in education, Zetech University, in collaboration with the Kenyatta Trust, conducted a transformative training programme for post- high school scholars. The initiative that took place in this month of February – a training of four weeks, aimed to equip recent form four graduates with essential skills in preparation for tertiary education and independent living. Hosted at Zetech University Technology Park Mang’u Campus, the training underscored the commitment to fostering holistic growth and empowerment for young learners.

Speaking at the Award Ceremony on 28 th February 2024, Prof. Njenga Munene, Zetech University Vice Chancellor noted to the students that, “through this programme, we have equipped you with essential skills in Mental Health and Wellness, Sexuality and Reproductive Health, Business, Entrepreneurship and Thought Leadership, Technology and Digital Literacy, Governance, Ethics and Sustainability, and Personal Development and Mentorship. These topics were carefully selected to address real-life situations and empower you to make informed decisions as you embark on your journey toward higher education and independent living.”

The collaboration between Zetech University and the Kenyatta Trust highlights the importance of joint efforts in creating educational opportunities for disadvantaged students. The Kenyatta Trust, a registered non-profit organisation in Kenya, supports students from underprivileged backgrounds by offering financial aid, mentorship, and capacity-building programmes. Ms. Kirigo Ndegwa Programmes Director, Kenyatta Trust, explained that, “the Kenyatta Trust has for years continued to uplift students from needy backgrounds through the Scholarships, Janjaruka, Inuka, and Tuungane Mentorship initiatives. These initiatives not only provide financial support but also instil values of discipline, hard work, and excellence among young scholars.” Ms. Kirigo further noted to the parents of the students that it is vital to constantly check on the mental health of their students, a growing and rising concern among campus students.
