Zetech University’s impressive performance at the just concluded Commission for University (CUE) conference at KICC on 14th June 2024 was underscored by their exhibition booth, which earned the institution the second runner-up position in the highly competitive Best Exhibition Booth Innovations category. The university’s exhibition, caught the attention of the CS Education, Ezekiel Machogu and stood out due to its interactive displays, which demonstrated various technological applications in learning. From virtual reality (VR) simulations that offer immersive educational experiences to advanced data analytics tools that personalize learning paths for students.
In a fete that saw all universities present their tech prowess at the 4th Biennial Conference on Research and Innovation themed, “Catalysing Systemic Social Transformation through Research and Innovation”. The accolade not only highlighted the university's innovative spirit but also its dedication to integrating cutting-edge technologies into its educational models, thereby preparing students to excel in a rapidly changing global landscape.
Recently, the University received a certificate and a cheque for ten thousand US dollars for an outstanding achievement in technological solutions and innovations. Zetech University was the sole representative from East Africa that secured the first runner-up position in the 3rd Edition of the African Telecommunication Union (ATU) Innovation Challenge, after the Veritas University in Nigeria. A bold testimony to the institution’s prowess.
With highly qualified Lecturers in the field of IT, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Machine Learning and Cloud Technologies, and facilities such as the Zetech University innovation hub (iZet hub), students are able to get a hands-on-skill practical approach to learning. One of the faculty in their School of ICT, Media and Engineering, was acknowledged as the most valuable instructor by Huawei at the Huawei ICT Competition Global Finals in China, an event that was graced by the PS TVET Dr. Esther Muoria.
Earlier this month, Zetech University student, Alex Okabo was selected to participate in an innovative event at Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN@80) in Kigali, Rwanda, where he represented the University in showcasing innovations exploring the Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and the future of IPv6 deployment.
“Looking ahead, Zetech University aims to build on its recent successes by further enhancing its technological capabilities and expanding its innovative programs. The institution plans to introduce new courses, in the PhD in Computer Science and Msc in Computer Science and IT, programs that have been qualified by the Commission for University Education (CUE), focused on emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, and the Internet of Things (IoT), thereby staying ahead of educational trends and meeting the evolving needs of the job market.” Zetech University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Njenga Munene noted at the institutions Annual Stakeholders Meeting last week.

The institution is currently organizing the Research and Innovation week on Sustainability themed: “Unleashing the transformative power of AI for a Circular Economy” from the 9 th to 11 th of July 2024.
