Zetech University annual stakeholdersOn June 15, 2024, Zetech University hosted its annual stakeholder meeting at the Mang’u Technological Park campus, drawing thousands of stakeholders, including guardians and parents. The event, characterized by insightful discussions and notable achievements, underscored the university’s dedication to excellence, transparency, and accountability in education.

Professor Njenga Munene, the Vice Chancellor of Zetech University, set the tone with a compelling address that resonated with the audience. Emphasizing the university’s role in equipping students with the skills and knowledge to thrive in today’s competitive job market. “Recently, Zetech University got a total of 1703 students from Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service making the University the third most preferred private University in Kenya.” The Vice Chancellor remarked.

Prof. Munene showcased the University’s integration of cutting-edge technology across all disciplines, with smart boards and immersive learning environments enhancing student engagement. He also thanked parents for supporting their learners to participate in the inaugural International Student Exchange Program with Christ University in Bengaluru, India, which fosters global competitiveness and cultural exchange among students, and urged parents to support their students in such programs including the upcoming second visit to the Silicon Valley of Asia in September 22nd to 28th 2024. Additionally, he updated the stakeholders on the University’s commitment to sports and extracurricular activities in nurturing a holistic individual in the society.

Echoing these sentiments, Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Alice Njuguna highlighted Zetech University as a beacon of technology and innovation in Kenya. She lauded the University’s robust partnerships with leading global institutions, which provide students with unparalleled exposure and ensure their competitiveness in the job market.

A panel session moderated by Director of Corporate Affairs and Marketing, Mr. John Mwai, vividly explained the key initiatives and strategies implemented by the university. Panelists included beneficiaries from various Zetech University programs, such as an international student from South Sudan, participants in the student exchange program, sports scholarship recipients, an innovation star, international faculty members, a student progressing from a certificate to a degree course, and the Dean of Students. They shared transformative experiences, highlighting how exposure to diverse perspectives and advanced technologies, including the Bengaluru visit, broadened their horizons and prepared them for global career opportunities. One panelist remarked, “The International student exchange program to Bengaluru profoundly impacted me. It’s not just about learning new technologies; it’s about understanding cultural dynamics and developing a global network for my future career.”


CHRP Lilian Ngala, Group HR Director of Diamond Trust Bank (DTB), discussing the theme "Preparing Your University Student for Employment in the Dynamic Labour Market," noted that, “Zetech University stands out as a centre of excellence in technology and innovation in Kenya, celebrated with numerous accolades. The University’s robust partnerships with leading global institutions offer student’s unparalleled exposure, ensuring they remain competitive in today’s job market.

Beyond academics, Zetech University is also fervently committed to sports and extracurricular endeavours.” She further promised 20 internship slots to Zetech University
students.

CHRP Jemimah Ngode, Group HR Manager of Radio Africa Group in her remarks highlighted the that Zetech students are well-trained, knowledgeable, and highly disciplined, as observed in the Job market.

“I want to appreciate Zetech University for taking a bold step to inform us the stakeholders in the progress of our students and for the great job that they are taking in the holistic students development. We now know how we can support our students as elaborated, so that we can be able to guide them through a remarkable and progressive career.” One of the parents remarked.

Throughout the meeting, stakeholders engaged in dynamic discussions on future employment trends, emphasising the need for both technical skills and essential soft skills such as critical thinking, communication, and adaptability. The role of entrepreneurship in Kenya’s economic landscape was also highlighted, with Zetech University efforts to instill an entrepreneurial mindset in students through practical experiences and industry partnerships.

The stakeholders meeting saw multifaceted tripartite education model, going beyond academia, industry and government by bringing in parents, guardians and key players in talent players from students to parents and industry players.
