Zetech University has taken a significant step toward enhancing its academic offerings and student support by exploring a partnership with Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), a global leader in IT governance, risk management, and cybersecurity. The meeting held on 11 th September 2024, and chaired by the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Research, Extensions, and Student Affairs, Prof. Alice Njuguna aimed to outline the mutual benefits of this collaboration and establish a roadmap for future engagement.
The partnership presents a range of opportunities for both students and faculty at Zetech University. One of the most exciting aspects of the collaboration is the variety of training programs offered by ISACA. These include specialised sessions on emerging technologies and IT fundamentals tailored for fresh graduates, as well as customised training designed to meet the unique needs of students and staff. Additionally, ISACA will provide training specifically aimed at non-IT professionals, such as board members, ensuring that a broader audience within the university can benefit from this partnership.
A critical component of the partnership is the emphasis on mentorship and collaboration. Starting on October 16, 2024, ISACA will participate in Zetech University’s Career Week, offering students valuable insights into the tech industry. The collaboration will also facilitate participation in several upcoming conferences, including the ISACA Conference in Naivasha and the She Leads Tech ISACA Conference in Nairobi, both designed to empower students and provide networking opportunities. Furthermore, Zetech University students will have the chance to establish an ISACA Club, promoting engagement and professional development among IT students. A six-month online mentorship program, available for a nominal fee, will also connect students with experienced professionals in the field.
Another significant benefit of the partnership is the availability of international scholarships. ISACA offers scholarships of up to $11,000 USD for students pursuing studies in Cybersecurity, ICT Audit, or ICT Risk Management. These scholarships are aimed at supporting needy students, providing them with the financial assistance needed to succeed in their academic endeavours.
To solidify this promising partnership, both parties plan to draft and sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This MOU will outline the specifics of the collaboration, including the shared responsibilities and objectives of both Zetech University and ISACA. In addition, there are plans to engage certified trainers from Zetech University to deliver ISACA training programs, ensuring that local expertise is utilised effectively. Discounted rates for ISACA modules will also be offered to Zetech University participants, making professional development more accessible.
The partnership between Zetech University and ISACA is poised to create a wealth of opportunities for students and faculty alike. By leveraging ISACA’s extensive resources and expertise, Zetech University aims to foster a new generation of IT leaders equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. As the world becomes increasingly reliant on technology, this collaboration stands as a testament to Zetech University’s commitment to providing high-quality education and support for its students, preparing them for the challenges of tomorrow.
