Programme Goals
The overall goal of the programme is to produce trained and qualified teachers who have adequate subject matter knowledge and can employ critical and reflective thinking in their analysis of educational issues in general, and curricular and pedagogical issues in particular with the Inclusion of Competence Based curriculum skills in their chosen subject areas. The graduates from the programme should be equipped with relevant knowledge and skills to enable them further their studies and also carry out relevant research in the field of education.
Duration of Programme
- Four (4) academic Years (Eight semesters)
Minimum Entry Requirements
- KCSE (or equivalent examination) certificate with a minimum aggregate KCSE mean grade of C+ and above
Or; - A relevant KNEC diploma or its equivalent with a minimum of grade in Mathematics and English
- Holder of an accredited diploma with a credit pass from an institution that is recognized by the University Senate with minimum grade C- in Mathematics and C in English
- In addition to the above university minimum entry requirements, a candidate joining the Bachelor of Education (Arts) degree programme shall be required to have attained a minimum of grade C+ in two teaching subjects they wish to pursue. Those wishing to take Business Studies as a teaching subject must have attained at least grade C+ and above in Mathematics.
