Zetech gears up for exhilarating Python Boot Camp

The Covid 19 pandemic has made many adapt to change and embrace technology. Technology is best when it brings people together and with the growth of digital advances globally, there will be increased engagement in different spheres of life.

Kenya has over the past few years improved on its education, health care, infrastructure, production, and manufacturing through use of technology and students today must be exposed to the digital world to ensure they thrive in the industries they will join. In the coming years, having a vast knowledge in technological advancements will be indispensable and  crucial.

To advance this agenda, Zetech University through with the Faculty of ICT and Engineering has collaborated with tech firms to implement an engaging Python Boot camp targeted in enhancing skills among ICT students. The anticipated launch of the five-week program will feature Regional IT director at World Vision, Mr. George Nyabara.

University Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, Extension and Student Affairs Dr. Alice Njuguna highlighted that the initiative will challenges students to enhance their ICT skills and learn how to better use technology for business growth. “It is exciting to begin the year with an engaging event that will provide additional skills to our students. We are thrilled to have ICT experts train our students on Python and equip them with the requisite knowledge to thrive in the technology world.” She said, adding that online advancements are critical for growth in any institution of higher learning.

Themed “the Value of Learning How to Learn”, the boot camp will kick off with registration from 11th – 18th January 2021, with the main event scheduled to start on 22nd January 2021. The sessions will be held at Zetech’s ultra-modern auditorium and will cover the following areas: Environment setup, Python basics, Python OOP features, notebooks, Numpy and Pandas.

Faculty of ICT and Engineering Head of Department Daniel Njeru noted that the timely camp will serve to empower students in ICT and give them an upper hand among their peers. “We are working hard to ensure our IT and Engineering students have an enriched learning experience and have the opportunity to network with experts in the field.” said Njeru, adding, “This initiative will equip and provide resources for students to learn python from basics to advanced levels as well as enable them to access personalized support and mentorship.”
