Sparks Silence Falcons in Premier League Action

It was another action packed weekend as the University sports team ganged up against opponents to recording wins to improve their stakes in the league standings. In the football field, the Zetech Sparks clobbered the Eldoret Falcons a whopping 5-0 in the women’s premier league action on Saturday.

Team captain Puren Anyetu’s hat trick in the first half gave the Sparks a head start; her counterpart Lavendah Atieno secured two goals in the 16th and 26th minutes to award the ladies a deserved win in the competition.

Commending the team for an impressive win, Coach Bernard Kitolo noted that intense training and discipline on the field contributed to the victory,

“The girls continue to excel in the premier league and I am impressed by the progress. As we focus on working on moving up the league table, I am optimistic that we will do very well.” said Coach Kitolo, adding that the ladies are also preparing themselves for the KUSA national finals slated for 19th April after topping the KUSA Nairobi region tournament.

In the basketball quarters, the Zetech Titans beat Trailblazers 59-42 in a game played at USIU with team player Deng Garang scoring 19 points to be crowned top scorer. In a match against KDF on Sunday, the gents had a ten point lead by the first half, before submitting to a narrow 19-21 score in fourth quarter of the game. The Titans managed a narrow 57-50 win against the opponents.

Team Coach Job Munene celebrated his team for securing wins in the two games played, sharing that the team is reviewing mistakes made to ensure they attain additional wins in upcoming KBF games.
