Giving is at the heart of Zetech University. This rings true for students and staff, who take part in community based initiatives every month, around the pillars of empowerment, education, health and environment.
In February, the varsity sports teams partnered with a committed team from Kaka Empire to change lives at the Children’s garden in Kawangware, through a mentorship session with the less fortunate in the area.
The players, led by Sports Team Manager Wycliffe Sirengo, took time to interact with hundreds of kids by playing with them, cleaned the home and held a mentorship session where the mentees talked about their hopes and dreams, cleaned the home, played with the kids and held a discussion on dreams and ambitions. The team, after helping them in setting up their new dorms, also presented a donation of stationery, clothes and food items to improve lives at the home that holds over 170 kids aged 3-18 years.
“It was a great experience and it served as a key lesson to the players on the importance of giving back; we are thankful to the CSR team for the support and we look forward to having staff join us for our next initiative.” Sirengo noted.
