Zetech University is one of the most reputable private universities in the country with state of the art facilities designed to enhance the students’ experience. Studying at the varsity’s modern library at Thika Road Campus that covers three floors, learners can access the most recent print and electronic information resources.
It is said that a library is the hospital of mind. However, more often than not, many campus students don’t show interest in learning how to use the library and its resources. As the center of intellectual thinking, social activities and production of thoughts for all who want to expand their knowledge, the varsity library team encourages students to make the most of the facility.
During a tour of the facility, Moses Kijugu, the Head of Library at Zetech, shares that reading widely and with understanding cultivates a strong desire to achieve one’s life ambitions. He adds that reading is an art and students should not shy from seeking guidance in getting it right. “The Library has a lot to offer both students and members of staff who want to benefit from the university’s centre of information.” Kijugu notes.
Using the Zetech Library::
The facility has an entrance on the ground floor of the library through which users can access the library; students only require their university ID card to access the facility. A provision is made for them to leave their bags at the luggage bay to enable them to study with ease. There is also a circulation desk located on the ground floor where a team of dedicated librarians assist readers in borrowing books, returning resources as well as handling general enquiries.
The library provides a sufficient and serene reading space for users in all the three floors, for current news, one can access daily newspapers and the latest magazines at a comfortable lounge. A well equipped multimedia area with state of the art facilities including computers through which users can access robust free wireless internet to access online resources with ease has been set up in the facility; moreover, the section allows for learners to carry their computers and do research within the library.
In addition, there are computers in an area with a tag OPAC-an online Public Access Catalogue which contain catalogues and maps of the library. In case one requires a certain book, and he or she is not aware where it is, he /she simply logs into the Library online catalogue and browses through the different categories. The resource allows a student to reserve books from this area as well; that is once you notice a book has been borrowed, you can request the team to reserve it for you, once returned. The OPAC resource can also be accessed outside the library premises.
Learning to use the Library:
The head of the library in collaboration with other personnel managing the facility carry out orientation for new and ongoing students, showing them how to access resources within the library. This is done on Wednesday and Thursdays at 11:00am and at 5:00 pm, with a provision for students to request assistance any time they need it.
“Indeed, the man who does not read books has no advantage over the man who cannot read books. You become the best by learning more and not limiting yourself to notes or Wikipedia searches. The Zetech University library is equipped to help you excel in your academics; purpose to make the most out of it.” says Kijugu.
Students are encouraged to make studying at the library a habit in order to excel in their studies and grow knowledge. For more details about the library, visit http://library.zetech.ac.ke/
