Food Science and Nutrition option blends a strong science base with courses in nutrition, food science, food safety and food microbiology. The curriculum prepares students for employment in the food industry or in government in such areas as quality assurance, product development, research, food inspection, and food plant management and consumer education. The option also provides an excellent background for a graduate programme.
Be a holder of KCSE with a minimum Mean Grade D+(Plus) with a D (Plain) in English, Biology and Chemistry.
Be a holder of any other qualification accepted by the University Senate as equivalent to any of the above.
•Understand how food nourishes the body.
•Develop skills to assess and apply nutrition standards and guidelines for achieving optimum human nutrition and health.
•Develop awareness of current nutritional concerns in Africa, and the appropriate approaches to prevention, control and management at the individual and community levels.
