Zetech Varsity Ladies Silence Strathmore in Basketball Finals Initial Round

It was an action packed weekend as university basketball teams weathered sunny afternoons to battle for first place in the ongoing tournaments. After a season of intense action and maintain form, the Zetech Sparks faced off Strathmore Swords in the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) game one and game two Division one finals; the five-game final round will see one of the sides secure the coveted number one crown.

Pitted against the Strathmore side in the showdown, a committed Zetech Ladies squad fought off the Swords to clench a tight 41-36 win. At the close of the first half, the Zetech Sparks, led 21- 9, following consecutive wins in the 1st and 2nd quarter. The game ended with a 41-36 victory for the Sparks after a tough final half of the game.

During Game two, played on Sunday, the Sparks dribbled past the Swords to a narrow 55 – 47 win, after a tense game played at the Nyayo National Stadium.

Proud of the team’s efforts, Coach Maurice Obilo noted that the ladies worked hard to beat Strathmore and will train harder to ensure they win the remaining games,

“Our focus is on the final win, the games are not easy and the team is keen of improving performance to ensure we win all the games.” He said.

The upcoming action to be played next weekend looks to be entertaining and intense and will determine who will take home the coveted Division One Ladies title.

The Zetech Sparks have earned their spot in the KBF ladies premier league, as a result of excellent performance throughout the Division one league and are excited about what the future holds for the strong side.
