Zetech University is set to hold its first research conference of the year between the 16th and 17th of May at the University main campus. The 2018 conference will focus on promoting innovation in business, entrepreneurship and IT for the 21st century.
The conference, organised in collaboration with Research Acies Publications, reflects the growth of the private University in scaling its provisions and expanding its research and extensions portfolio to ensure learners benefit from a rich campus experience.
Zetech University Vice Chancellor Prof. Njenga Munene noted that research plays a significant role in developing effective academic systems, driving the University’s commitment to invest in research engagements and collaborations that will enhance the student and faculty experience,
“We will gather key scholars from across the country together to discuss and showcase their research findings on the role of innovation in the entrepreneurship and IT sectors.” Prof. Munene said, adding, “Participants will present their findings to a capable team of researchers in areas that sub themes provided that include innovations driving businesses in the formal and informal sectors as well as innovations for businesses and enterprise.”
Key note speakers of the event include Prof. Olubayi Olubayi, Chief Academic Officer at Maarifa Education who will present on Education for innovation not exams, Prof. Henry Bwisa from JKUAT who will discuss Promoting Entrepreneurial Innovation in Kenya’s Higher Learning Institutions as well as Dr. Shem Ochuodho, Global Chairperson at the Kenya Diaspora Alliance who will take the audience through Youth Empowerment Through IT-Enabled Services (ITES).
Commenting on the planned two-day conference, Dr. Alice Njuguna, Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Academics, Research and Extension at the University highlighted that the event aims to address the significant role innovation plays in advancing industry as well as stir interest among students and faculty to actively take part in research and developmental activities,
“As a University, research is a significant contributor to the education journey. We are excited to host this conference that will; explore innovative research findings in Business, Entrepreneurship and IT, promote academic discourse and exchange of innovative ideas and approaches in these areas as well as provide a forum for scholars and researchers to interact.” said Dr. Njuguna.
The session will feature presentations by scholars from various universities and institutions and will see Zetech University lecturers present papers on Big data analytics on decision making by smart firms in Kenya and IoT as a catalyst for TechnoInnovation in Africa, among others.
Other papers set to be presented will cover education for innovation, Information Technology Innovations and the implications for Business and effect of Product innovation on Financial Performance, among other topics.
