The demand for higher education has driven Zetech University towards broadening the course offering in order to accommodate both private and government sponsored students and empower them to realize their university goals. The varsity Vice Chancellor, Prof. Edwin Wamukoya noted during the institution’s 6th graduation, that the investment and commitment for new programmes will serve the growing student base.
Speaking during the graduation ceremony, Prof. Wamukuoya noted that after acquiring accreditation to operate as a University, Zetech introduced Degree courses, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BScIT), Bachelor in Business, Administration and Management (BBAM) and Bachelor of Business Information Technology (BBIT). Two years later, the Degree programmes have increase to five,
“I am proud to announce that since then we have introduced two new undergraduate programmes; Bachelor of Purchasing & Supplies Management (BPSM) and Bachelor of Hospitality & Tourism Management (BHTM), which, with the help of seasoned industry leaders, have been tailored to meet and fit into the requirements of these dynamic fields.”
He further detailed the institution’s strategic plan to set up an Enterprise and Innovation Incubation Centre where students will be empowered to have a different view of the world so as to influence their approach to developing solutions. “This touches on our apt theme for the day, which is Fostering Techprenurial Skills for Sustainable Economic Growth; the centre will go a long way in enabling us continue in embracing technology at the centre of our education and equipping trainees with an exhaustive tech-based way of learning.”
The government officials and the guests present were also informed on the developments at the institution, following the government’s move to sponsor students to private universities earlier in the year,
“Through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Services (KUCCPS), an extra 10,000 students were able to access university education in private universities through the government student sponsorship programme. Through this initiative, over 635 students now have access to quality education at Zetech University and will pursue valuable programmes to better their future.” Prof. Wamukoya said.
He concluded by lauding the graduands and the families on the achievement of completing all that was required of them to secure the achievement graduation, emphasizing that the powers to read and write come with responsibility, and that the graduating students must perform excellently in the different markets in the country and beyond.
