In a bid to bridge the gap between university education and expectations of the job market in the country, the Zetech University has launched an engaging technology based programme, designed to train graduates to meet market needs through implementation of science and technology based solutions.
Dubbed the Zetech Incubation Hub, the initiative was crafted by the varsity IT department targeting ICT and Engineering students who have enrolled at the institution and desire to further their qualifications through the intense three month training course, focused on application of hardware and software systems.
Commenting on the course, University Vice Chancellor Prof. Edwin Wamukoya noted the significance of effectively equipping students with the soft skills required to complement the technical skills taught in class;
“The Zetech Incubation Hub is an extensive programme that not only champions excellent tech-based projects that can identify and tackle various challenges in the country, but also teaches the trainees professional skills to better prepare them to adequately meet the demands of the business and employment world.” Prof. Wamukoya said.
The University Registrar Moses Maina, on his part, added that the hub will take students through demanding project management processes, expose them to designing the projects based on client requirements as well promote strong technical skills. In addition, it will train learners on professionalism, work-life balance and effective communication skills.
The varsity, which recently received over the second batch of government sponsored students to join their Degree programme, is targeting to train hundreds of students in the areas of software and web programming, engineering and hardware and Advanced Malware Malfunction (AMP) networking, through the hub.
The course targets applicants who have basic knowledge in computer hardware, software and networking essentials and seeks to empower them to become self sufficient technology professionals who can make a difference in the world.
