Zetech University student Fuad Nyondo secured the top award in the just concluded Karate national under 21 championship, organised by the Kenya Karate Federation.
He managed to defeat Paul Kimani from St. Johns and Aloise Amoko from Dagoretti High in the recent games at the Kaloleni social hall in Nairobi that brought together a host of promising young talent in the martial arts space.
Taking home the gold medal, Nyondo has been selected to the Kenya Team that will represent the country in Durban, South Africa, in the under 21 years African Karate Championship, scheduled for 30th August.
Attributing his win to the persistent training and tireless efforts by the Zetech University Taekwondo and Karate Coach Martin Ndegwa, the young athlete is also grateful to the institution for supporting him until the final stage,
“I am truly grateful to God for the win. This win was fought for through persistent trainings at school under the guidance of coach Ndegwa. I’m thankful to everyone for believing in me and we are already preparing for the South Africa outing.” Nyondo said.
Lauding the student on the incredible win, Sports Coordinator Alfred Muli saluted him for his commitment and drive to be among the best in the competition, assuring him of the university’s support in the upcoming Durban competition.
“Nyondo has often excelled in tournaments and we were optimistic he would impress in the under21 championship. We are proud of him and look forward to a great performance in the upcoming game” Muli noted.
