Zetech University hosted students from Honorable Kiragu Steven High School in a bid to enlighten the learners on the varsity’s facilities and education programme, especially in the School of Media. The students, who form the Journalism Club of the high school, were privileged to tour the varsity’s media facilities designed to empower students eager to join the media industry across different fields.
The Journalism Club members, eager to enhance their skills in journalism, spent the better part of the day learning about how to navigate the industry and how to use different equipment; Shadrack Ngao, Head of Department (HOD), Engineering and Media at the university led the tour.
The future media practitioners visited the well equipped studio which contains different sections including television, radio and musical engineering. They were trained on the use of various media equipment and enjoyed an exciting session of mock TV presentation and audience engagement.
Thereafter, they visited the editing suite where they were taught about editing video footage and how to craft it in order to meet market demands.
Speaking on the sidelines of the tour, Lena Njoki, member of the Hon. Kiragu Steven Journalism Club was pleased with the entire tour, stating she was eager to join the varsity after completing her secondary education, “I would love to take journalism at Zetech for my tertiary education as the campus is well versed in this faculty. We have also gotten a few great ideas on how to broaden our journalism club, with heavy focus on news writing.”
When asked why they opted to visit Zetech, Deputy of the club Ms Wachira said, “The campus has a good reputation with regard to journalism and media and the facilities are well equipped; who wouldn’t want to come here?” she asked.
The Engineering and Media HOD was pleased with the turn out of the students noting that the students should join Zetech for their higher learning needs. He assured the students that quality education is at the heart of the institution and that the team is working hard to ensure students are well catered to.
Indeed, it is evident that the university remains dedicated to inspiring young people and sharing information to empower them to make the right decisions when looking for an institution of choice.
