The government of Kenya has been called upon to set up funds for private universities to boost the development of infrastructure costing millions of shillings in a bid to adequately satisfy the increasing demand for quality higher education in the country and transform local private universities into leading global universities.
Zetech University Chancellor, Prof. Susan Alfano Nkinyangi who was speaking on Friday during the university’s 2016 graduation graced by Ministry of ICT Permanent Secretary (Broadcasting and Telecommunication), Sammy Itemere, noted the need for support in the development of holistic and impactful students through enhanced infrastructure, she said,
“Zetech and other private institutions are keen on developing many other world class infrastructure projects for the benefit of students; I urge the government to set up a kitty to fund private universities in developing infrastructure especially towards science based programmes, that will enable them reinforce quality.”
During the celebratory mood that marked the varsity’s 6th graduation, Prof. Nkinyangi further congratulated the graduating class, calling on them to stand out in society and believe in themselves. She noted with delight the importance of alumni in growing an institution, challenging the students to support Zetech and consider furthering their education to build their knowledge and enhance skills.
The academic ceremony, which was the institution’s first graduation after attaining University status following receiving a letter of Interim from the Commission for Higher education (CUE), saw over 2000 students graduate with Diplomas and Certificate in the numerous courses ranging from IT, Business, Media, Hospitality and Tourism, Arts and Social Science as well as continuing programes under the Zetech Continuous Education Programmes.
Indeed, the memorable experience and the evident joy in the graduands’ faces was an encouragement to the Zetech management team and staff present after intensive sessions of hard work, commitment and focus; the fraternity is proud take this opportunity to congratulate all the graduands and to wish them the very best in their future endeavours.
