Zetech University women’s and men’s sides secured wins this past weekend in the KBF league weekend games silencing opponents to claim victories in the intensive tournament. The ladies squad, Zetech Sparks won 53-52 in a close shave against USIU-Africa ladies team in the games.
The Sparks trailed 7-10 and 11-13 in the second quarters before roaring with 26 against USIU’s 13 points in the third quarter, finishing it off with a tight 53-52 win. The Top scorer Fridah Nguma claimed 11 points for the team, with Lucy Mbithe adding another 10 points as the team continued their winning quest in their third game of the season.
Saluting the squad, team Coach Maurice Obilo celebrated the win, noting that the team is eager to enhance training and preparation ensure wins in the proceedings games of the season, “The team endured some transitions at the start of the season, with younger players joining the squad to compete with seasoned players in the league and we are working very hard to perform and stay on top.” Obilo said.
In the men’s tournament, the Zetech Titans beat African Nazarene University 49-42 in the KBF battle, with Deng Garang securing 18 points to emerge top scorer. The game started with the team hitting 13 points as the highest scores during the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Coach Job Munene praised high gents for a good show, noting that the additional win shows promise for the rest of the season. “We are pleased with the result and thank God for the victories since the start of the season; now we are preparing diligently for the upcoming games to ensure we record excellent results.”
