Diploma in Marketing

Programme Overview

This course provides courses in core marketing skills in a four-semester program within two academic years. The courses in the program give broad coverage of the functional areas of marketing. The program has been designed to meet the needs of people who wish to acquire their knowledge and skills in all aspects of marketing.

  • Practitioners in marketing who wish to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • University graduates from any discipline who wish to acquire knowledge in marketing management.
  • Students who wish to acquire a strong foundation to pursue degree in and marketing.

Entry Requirements

Be a holder of KCSE with a minimum aggregate of C


Be a holder of KCSE C- plus a certificate with credit pass


Be a holder of professional Certificate in a relevant discipline from the institution recognized by the University senate

Programme Duration and Structure

a)Diploma in Marketing shall be offered in two academic years with four semesters. The first academic year will comprise of ten (10) course units, and the second academic year will have ten (10) units plus Project and attachment.

b)The programme will run for four (4) semesters. The period of the project work will be part of the programme duration and will considered as having two (2) course units.

Expected Learning Outcomes

  • Students are expected to have developed an imperative understanding, knowledge, and skills in promotion and marketing.
  • By completion of coursework individuals are expected to have mastered the procedures and techniques involved in the selling process.
  • Individuals should now have competent skills to manage a business enterprise/setup as well as to market and manage the services and products offered for sale.
