Community Engagement Initiative:
1. Chapati Forum:
This a monthly initiative designed to engage the less fortunate in society by preparing a sumptuous meal of Chapati and Stew and using the opportunity to motivate them and show them that they can follow their dreams and steer away from drug and alcohol consumption as well as crime.
Working with a non-government organization, FOCUS, the students actively participate in inspiring lives through the powerful initiative by providing the time and skills as well as in gathering resources to ensure the initiative is a success.
2. Partnership with Child Link Community Development
Zetech University has established linkages with capable organisations aimed at boosting the endowment kitty from which several bright Kenyan Students and other African youth from poor backgrounds secure funding for university education. The varsity, in 2015, signed an MOU with Child Link Community Development, a local NGO based in Oloitoktok, Kajiado County. So far three students undertaking Degrees have been admitted as a result of the partnership.
3. Tharaka Nithi Girl Child Day
The Zetech University family kicked off a partnership with Tharaka Nithi County by participated in the Inaugural Tharaka Nithi Girl Child Day headlined by the County’s First County Hon. Lucy Ragwa where they donated sanitary towels to the girls in the region to ensure they do not miss school because of lacking sanitary towels.
Our Vice Chancellor Prof. Edwin Wamukoya also took the time to participate in the activity and share words of wisdom with the beneficiaries.
4. Utawala Children’s Home Visit
Our students and staff members took part in a visit to Scream Africa; a Children’s Home located in Utawala. They enjoyed an opportunity to work with the team behind the campaign led by popular Kenyan hip-hop artist Rabbit aka Kaka Sungura in engaging the kids and motivating them to never give up.
5: Environmental Initiatives: The University continues to provide platforms for students to take part in community development, in the area of environmental conservation. The CSR team enrolled the students for the Mr and Miss Environment pageants as well as secured an opportunity for the team to participate in the Act on Climate project in Nairobi County.
